Thursday, January 6th, 2011

The homeless man with the pitch-perfect voice found apparently won’t be homeless – or jobless for long after appearing in an exclusive interview on “The Early Show” Wednesday.

Now Ted Williams has been inundated with job offers but his biggest wish is – to reunite with his 90-year-old mother, Julia Williams.

That wish also cam true when Ted flew to New York to finally see his mom again.

Ted Williams, “Man with Golden Voice,” Speaks

“Early Show” co-anchor Chris Wragge accompanied Julia on her way to LaGuardia Airport for the anticipated reunion. “I’m very proud of him. I hope that he can do good,” she told Wragge.  She hadn’t seen her son in more than ten years, and was overjoyed at the thought.

Williams told Wragge, “God has answered my prayer. I prayed that I would live to see this time when he would do well.”

In the Wednesday “Early Show” interview, an emotional Ted Williams said, “My mom is just really.. I.. I… I’m going to be going to New York, hopefully this afternoon, and please… I apologize if I am getting a little emotional. I haven’t seen my mom in, in great deal of time. … But she doesn’t believe (my good fortune now). … One of my, one of my, my biggest prayers that I … sent out was that she would live long enough for me to, you know, rebound or whatever. And I guess God kept her around, and he kept my pipes around, you know, to, to maybe just have one more shot…”

Homeless man with ‘golden voice,’ offered full-time job and home by Cleveland Cavs

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

This is a great story about a homeless man who has an amazing voice being given an opportunity in radio.

Ted Williams has had some problem with drugs and alcohol over the years but has been clean for 2 years.  Williams who is homeless became the subject of viral video that has captivated the internet at large.

Because of this exposure he has been offered a full-time job and a mortgage on a home by Quicken Loans Arena and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

A woman named Tracy, representing Quicken Loans and the Cavaliers, called WNCI 97.9 on Wednesday morning and made the offer that was later confirmed  by CNBC’s Darren Rovell on Twitter..  Williams was inundated with offers throughout his appearance, so there is no word whether the offer has been accepted or signed at this point.

The Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena are offering voice-over work in radio and television along with a new website launch that requires the same type of work from Williams.

Let’s hope 2011 will be his year.
