Obama Calls For Gay Rights Support!

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

President Barack Obama is calling for the United Nations human rights body to combat discriminations against gays and lesbians.

The President is pushing for “nations to end any criminal punishments against lesbians, gays and bisexuals,” and he’s asking “the global body to review how governments treat them in the UN’s human rights assessments. ”

Currently, this declaration by the U.S. has support from over 80 countries.

Deputy assistant for international organizations Suzanne Nossel said on the subject:

“We are very concerned that individuals continue to be killed, arrested and harassed around the world because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. This statement sends a strong message from across the globe that such abuses should not be tolerated.”

Not before time.
