Prince Andrew’s role as Trade Envoy in wake of teen prostitute scandal

Monday, March 7th, 2011
PRINCE Andrew, is making more news for his relationship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein than his role as the country’s ‘Trade Envoy’.
A spokesman for Prince Andrew has defended the royal after his alleged links to the shamed billionaire were exposed in the press.

The Prince who was pictured in 2001 with then 17-year-old prostitute Virginia Roberts was recently pictured walking with billionaire Epstein after the sex criminal was released from jail. Andrew has reportedly been friends with Epstein since the 1990s and met him as recently as December.

Epstein served 13 months for soliciting prostitution from minors.

There are calls for his resignation as a trade envoy but a spokesman for Buckingham Palace insists the royal has done nothing wrong.

The spokesman told the Daily Express,

“There has been no suggestion of impropriety on the part of the Duke, nor should there be.”

Berlusconi “Not Worried at All” About Sex Trial while Ruby Heartbreaker milks publicity

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Even with his impending trail Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi continues to downplay the charges that he paid for sex with a 17-year-old Moroccan girl, nicknamed “Ruby Heartbreaker,” and then used his influence to cover it up.

Berlusconi made his first public comment since he was indicted Tuesday.

“Out of love of my country, I won’t talk about this,” Berlusconi told reporters. “I can only say one thing: I’m not worried at all.”

Prosecutors allege Berlusconi paid for sex with the Moroccan nightclub dancer and although paying for sex with a prostitute is not a crime in Italy provided the prostitute is of age.  However Ruby Heartbreaker was just 17 at the time of the incident.  Berlusconi and Ruby – who has since turned 18 – have denied having sexual relations, although she has said Berlusconi gave her 7,000 euro ($9,550) on their first meeting.

Judge Cristina Di Censo handed down the indictment to subject Berlusconi to an immediate trial, as prosecutors had requested. The trial will be heard by a panel of three judges, all of them women, who were picked at random.

The child prostitution charge carries a possible prison sentence of six months to three years. The abuse of influence charge, which experts say is more dangerous for Berlusconi, carries a possible sentence of four to 12 years. Berlusconi could be barred permanently from public office if convicted of abusing his influence.

Philidelphia Priests charged with raping young Boys, after Grand Jury Probe

    Friday, February 11th, 2011

After a two-year grand jury investigation into priest abuse in the archdiocese, two Roman Catholic priests, a former priest and a Catholic school teacher in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia were charged Thursday with raping young boys.  The current case, involves two victims one of them a boy who was allegedly abused by two priests and his sixth-grade teacher at St. Jerome Paris.  The offenses are alleged to have started when he was a 10-year-old altar boy in 1998.

The other victim was a 14-year-old boy abused by another priest who previously served in the same parish and had a prior history of impropriety with minors, the report said.

In relation to incidents like these and other similar incidents, a former high-ranking church official was accused of transferring problem priests to new parishes.  The church official also failed to warn anyone of prior sex-abuse complaints.

Monsignor William Lynn was charged by the grand jury with endangering children in his role as secretary for clergy under former Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua.

Lynn, 60, failed in his duty to protect children in the five-county archdiocese.  His duty was to refer priests with known sexual problems for rehabilitation or prosecution, District Attorney Seth Williams said in announcing the charges.

“He instead lied to parishioners and went out of his way to reassign priests without telling pastors or principals that they were pedophiles,” Williams said.

Lynn’s defense lawyer said the two endangerment counts should not apply because Lynn did not have any children under his care. He also questioned the merits of the charges, which carry a maximum 14-year prison term.

“We certainly don’t concede for a moment that he knew he was putting children at risk,” lawyer Tom Bergstrom told The Associated Press.

Lynn figured prominently in a scathing 2005 grand jury report that found 63 priests in the archdiocese had been credibly accused of child sexual assault over several decades while local church officials turned a blind eye.  Frustrated prosecutors then concluded, though, that they could not file any criminal charges because the statute of limitations on the crimes had expired.

Pennsylvania has since revised laws to give child sex-assault victims more time to report abuse, while the archdiocese under Cardinal Justin Rigali has pledged to refer credible complaints to law enforcement.

Nazril Irham Indonesian Pop Singer Setenced to 3 1/2 Years in Jail for Sex Tapes

    Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

Pop Star, Nazril Irham, was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in jail on Monday after sex tapes with his celebrity girlfriends circulated on the Internet.

The star was convicted of violating Indonesia’s strict anti-pornography law after two separate videos allegedly showing the 28-year-old in bed with a different celebrity girlfriend, found their way to the Internet in June.

One of the clips features his girlfriend, top model and actress Luna Maya and the other his former girlfriend model and TV presenter Cut Tari.  Maya who accompanied the star, broke down in court when the ruling was read aloud.

Hundreds charged the gate of the courthouse in the city of Bandung after the verdict was read.  The feeling was definately anti Irham as the crowd yelled “Too light! Too light.”

Irham, known to fans as “Ariel,” sped off in an armored police car.  He maintains the tapes were stolen from his home but presiding Judge Singgih Budi Prakoso said the pop star did nothing to prevent their widespread distribution and went on to sentence the singer to 3 1/2 years in jail and ordered him to pay a $25,000 fine. The man who admitted to posting the tapes online was sentenced Monday in a separate trial to two years in jail.

It is unclear whether the women in the videos will also be punished.

Lawyer posts new list of clergy accused of abuse after archdiocese fail to publicise the list

    Thursday, January 20th, 2011

After the names of deceased priests who are accused of abusing children were made public by a lawyer representing their alleged victims the Boston archdiocese is still defending its decision not to publicize the names.

Mitchell Garabedian, the lawyer for the alleged abused children made public 19 names – 11 parish priests, a Catholic deacon and seven members of Catholic religious orders.  Garabedian said they had been accused of sexual abuse but had never before been identified publicly.

Garabedian, who said he has represented more than 750 victims of clergy sex abuse, said he posted the names after waiting two years for the Boston archdiocese to make good on promises to publicly post its own list of “credibly accused” priests.

“The archdiocese has not done it, even though it said it would for about two years,” he said. “It’s necessary in order to allow the victims to heal and protect innocent children and notify the public.”

In a statement, Kelly Lynch, a spokeswoman for the archdiocese, confirmed that the church had settled claims against the 11 priests and the deacon named Wednesday. She said all 12 are now dead, and were dead when they were first accused.

“In cases when an accused priest is deceased, it is nearly impossible to conduct a thorough and fair investigation into a claim,” Lynch said in an e-mail. “Since all of the new names are deceased men, clearly no child was put at risk because these names were not in the public domain.”

Garabedian specializes in representing victims of clergy sex abuse.  He posted on his website the names of 117 parish priests, members of religious orders and Catholic lay people.  Ninety-eight of the names had already been made public.

Throughout the abuse tumult one of the main complaints has been that Catholic bishops shuffled suspected priests from parish to parish.  There was no notification given to police of the accusations.

The Patriot Ledger is not publishing the 19 names that had not already been made public. Three of those people – a priest, a deacon and a Jesuit associated with Boston College High School – had connections to the South Shore. 19 clergy members were assigned to South Shore parishes at some point.  Garabedian offered no information on what they had allegedly done, when and to whom. The Associated Press reported that all but three of the 19 are dead.

“At this time, our work on this important undertaking is ongoing,” Lynch said in an e-mail Wednesday. “We continue to evaluate the complexities of this initiative, especially those associated with disclosing information relating to deceased priests or those accused of a crime, whose guilt or innocence has not been established, and the serious due-process concerns this presents for those accused.”

Moroccan belly dancer ‘Ruby Heartbreak’ speaks as Berlusconi faces extortion and underage prostitution probe

    Friday, January 14th, 2011

It emerged today that Controversial Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, 74, is being investigated for extortion and underage prostitution.

The probe centres on his relationship with a belly dancer called Karima el Mahroug, who was 17 when she was a guest at a party he hosted at his home last year.

Ruby Heartbreak as she is known as: Belly dancer Karima el Mahrougm, was arrested for theft last year but reportedly freed after the intervention of Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi.  The extortion accusation has arisen as a result of that intervention.  He is said to have wrongly told officers that el Mahroug, was the grand daughter of Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and to avoid diplomatic embarrassment she should be released.

Mr Berlusconi then sent one of his MPs -half British Nicole Minetti, to pick her up from Milan central police station.  el Mahroug was subsequently freed into Minetti’s care.

Berlusconi’s office has been dogged by continual allegations involving women but this charge his lawyers have said is ‘absurd and groundless’.

Nicolo Ghedini and Piero Longo said the probe represented a ‘very serious interference in the prime minister’s private life’ and that the allegations ‘have already been refuted by all witnesses and people directly involved’.

The prostitution charge centres on the allegation that he had sex with the belly dancer between February and May last year.  In Italy his is punishable by a jail term of between six months and three years.

Miss El Mahroug said during an interview that at the party after telling Mr Berlusconi about her life, he felt sorry for her and had given her a diamond necklace, €7,000 in cash and an Audi.

Miss El Mahroug said:  ‘I left before midnight. I told him all my problems. He got very upset and he gave me €7,000 and a Damiani necklace.  After that evening I never heard from him again.’

Moroccan Miss El Mahroug , who is in Italy illegally, added: ‘He protected me and he gave me some money. He said he would help with my residency permit. He didn’t want anything in return, I swear.

‘There was no sex. He sent me a couple of messages and he said that I had left an impression on him. He said that he liked me. I replied that I liked him as well and it wasn’t just because of the money.’

Berlusconi has been a magnet for scandals involving women and his wife Veronica Lario, 53, is divorcing him after it emerged two years ago he had attended the 18th birthday part of underwear model Naomi Letizia.  Ms Lario said she could no longer be with a ‘man who is ill and who associates himself with minors’ – she is trying to claim £40million a year from the billionaire.

News of the investigation came just hours after Italy’s Constitutional Court had ruled parts of an immunity law brought in by Mr Berlusconi to prevent him from going on trial were unlawful.

Former Israeli President Found Guilty on Rape Charges

    Thursday, December 30th, 2010

Former President Moshe Katsav has been found guilty by an Israeli court on two counts of rape and sexual harassment.   He initially agreed to a plea bargain that would have required him to admit to a lesser charge of sexual misconduct but later withdrew from that agreement so that he could stand trial.

The verdict was issued on Thursday in Tel Aviv, where Katsav may face other sexual misconduct charges involving a further two women.  The two pending incidents are alleged to have taken place in the 1990s when he served as Israel’s tourism minister.

The Jerusalem Post says during the court proceeding, the judges said the accusers had complained that Mr. Katsav had forced them to write love letters to him, in order to make it appear that their allegations were false.

During the proceedings on Thursday women’s rights groups demonstrated outside of the court as a show of solidarity with his accusers.

David Beckam to sue In Touch Weekly over story about prostitute who claims they had an affair!

      Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

David Beckham has said that he will sue In Touch Weekly after the magazine reported he’d had an affair with a prostitute.

The soccer star wasted no time in going to court and filed a libel lawsuit on Friday in LA Supreme Court.  Beckham is claiming that the magazine knowingly published false information in the article.

The woman claimed Beckham paid $10,000 a night for her services about five times in 2007 and also patronized another prostitute. Beckham’s suit alleges libel, slander and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

In Touch said earlier this week that they stood by their story.
