American Idol Steven Tyler Apology: Big Joke!

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Last night’s American Idol began with an apology flashing across the screen.  The subject? Steven Tyler’s behavior on last week’s show.

Apparently at least some of us were outraged because it said “American Idol would like to apologize for Steven Tyler’s outrageous behavior…Mr. Tyler has been warned…it will not happen again…”   I think not.

A contestant then comes in to the audition room, standing in front of the judges, and announcing his last name as “Muck.”

Steven Tyler said, “Do you know what that rhymes with?” The guy said, “Duck?”, and then Steven Tyler said, “Read my lips….”

Was this supposed to be funny?

Steven Tyler Wins the Hearts of ‘American Idol’ Contestants

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

When Steven Tyler took over from  Simon Cowell there were more than a few raised eyebrows but that is all over now as contestants on American Idol last night were swooning over the recently appointed judge.

Last night’s premiere of Season 10 saw Randy Jackson being joined by new judges Steven and Jennifer Lopez, and the new crew has created some high criticism and praise.

The new judges seemed to have a difficult time….judging.

J. Lo started the show by throwing up her hands when she had to try and deliver bad news, The New York Daily News. “This is awful,” she said. “I can’t do this.”

But what they lacked in actual judging abilities, they made up for in star power.

Although J. Lo receivedvmost of the attention last night, it would appear that Steven was equally adored.

“Aerosmith is my favorite band” was a common phrase and Steven dished the praises right back.

“Just the right amount [of leg] showing,” Steven told one young contestant after J. Lo complemented her skirt. “That’s nice.”

Those type of comments may already have won the rocker the hearts of the  American Idol contestants and fans.

Is American Idol contestant Alex Lambert Sleeping on the Streets?

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

American Idol contestant Alex Lambert, writes in a series of Tweets that he’s been “Sleepin’ on the street” since wrapping the Web-based series If I Can Dream in October.

The shy Texan who has one of the best singing voices on last season’s American Idol goes on

“Alright so I didn’t want to bring my person (sic) life to my fans but I’m about to freak out if I don’t tell yall the truth! Ever since IICD ended I’ve been kinda homless! Sleepin on the street and behind buildings.”

But according to a rep from 19 Entertainment his circumstances are a little better that he is making out.

“He is on a retainer. He doesn’t have his own place, but he is tentatively crashing on friends’ couches,” says a rep from the Idol production company that manages many of the show’s contestants. “He is slowly working on demos with 19 and hopefully that turns into more down the road.”

Lambert later softened his stance a bit, Tweeting,

“I have money! And soon I will have a place to stay! I just wanted to let yall know! I’m not some rich spoiled kid! That I’ve had to hustle,” and then added “I don’t mind sleepin on the street as long as I get my chance!”

“I know alot of people think I tweeted my living situation for publicity! But I don’t give a damn about fame!”

Perhaps not but the truth goes a long way!

What’s New in 2011 for American Idol

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

According to American Idol executive producers there are going to be some changes in the show this year.

  • There will be no Top 24 as in previous shows. This year 60 contestants will perform at the Mirage’s Cirque du Soliel theater before being cut down to 40 and then be narrowed down to 20 by the judges before America does a sudden death vote to cut to the final 10 or 12.
  • The final group won’t be split down the middle 50% male/female.  Ken Warwick goes on to explain, “If I’ve got six fantastic boys and four average girls, I’m certainly not going to throw out a fantastic boy to put in another average girl, or vise versa

A music video round will not be part of the show, despite earlier reports to the contrary.

The new season starts on January 19!

American Idol: Michael Lynche is axed, Casey James survived

      Thursday, May 13th, 2010

All power to Casey James as he survives yet another heat of American Idol while Michael Lynche, affectionately referred to as “Big Mike,” went home after the nationwide vote.  James, Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze went through to the Final Three.

Lynche was nearly out about a month ago, getting eliminated by the vote only to be saved by the judges, who used their only such save of the season. Lynche has been among the most consistent competitors on the show, with a fluid, R & B style and infectious personality.

He is immensely more talented than James – and probably Dewyze, as well – but it was Lynche and Bowersox squared off in the bottom two. That meant someone who didn’t deserve to leave was going home, and in the end it was Lynche who took the fall.
