Utah police investigate polygamous family for bigamy

An investigation has been launched into a polygamous family starring in a reality television show, Utah police said Tuesday.

Lehi police Lt. Darren Paul started the investigation after the reality television show “Sister Wives.”   The show features a 41-year-old advertising salesman Kody Brown and his four wives.  Between them they have 13 children and three stepchildren.

Although Brown is only legally married to Meri Paul he calls the other three other women his spouses.  The are Janelle, Christine and Robyn who has 3 children from a previous relationship.

The show premiered on Sunday and has caused quite a stir and Christine Brown declined to comment Tuesday except to say that they were disappointed.  The family issued the following statement through TLC.

“…When we decided to do this show, we knew there would be risks,” the family said. “But for the sake of our family, and most importantly, our kids, we felt it was a risk worth taking.”

You have to wonder why?

How could they possibly be so naive to think that this TV show would help broaden the public’s understanding of plural families which is what they say they were hoping for.  This may be common in parts of Utah where polygamy is a legacy of the early Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who continue to practice polygamy but not for the rest of us.  They believe it brings exaltation in heaven.  The practice was banned by the Mormon church in 1890 and carries a penalty of excommunication for any member who still engages in the practice.

Bigamy is a third-degree felony in Utah, punishable by a prison term of up to five years.

“If it really goes to a court situation, then our people are going to go right back into isolation,” was there comment to this.

Well Bite Me! but this is a real disgrace and the worse thing about it is that they don’t seem to know it.

Sally Menke, Quentin Tarantino’s Editor, Found Dead

    Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Film editor Sally Menke who is probably best known for her work with Quentin Tarantino was found dead along a Los Angeles hiking trail on Tuesday.

The L.A. Coroner’s Office has confirmed the news to CNN.  Although the extreme heat was likely a factor in Menke’s death, coroner spokeswoman Lt. Cheryl MacWillie said an autopsy would reveal whether another pre-existing condition also contributed.

Menke, 56, had gone hiking with a friend on Monday.  Temperatures hit a scalding 113 degrees that day, making it the hottest day on record for L.A. in 133 years since National Weather Service started keeping records.

Police spokesman Richard French said that Menke became separated from her friend, who was walking a dog.    Her friend alerted police when she couldn’t find Menke at the end of the hike on Monday night.

Following a late-night search using helicopters and bloodhounds, police found Menke’s body in Griffith Park early Tuesday morning.

    She will be missed.

Joseph Cerniglia who appeared in Kitchen’s Nightmares commits suicide!

    Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Joseph Cerniglia who appeared in Kitchen Nightmares was found dead in New York’s Hudson River late last week.  His death was ruled as suicide.

This is the second incident where a Gordon Ramsay reality show participant commits suicide.

The first was Rachel Brown, who shot herself to death in her family’s Dallas home in 2007.  The incident happened one year after coming in fifth on the chef’s competition show.

Officials received a 911 call about Cerniglia’s body on Friday afternoon, shortly after getting calls about a man who jumped off the George Washington Bridge.

When he competed on the show in 2007, Cerniglia was in debt and struggling to keep his New Jersey restaurant Campania.

    He claimed at the time:

“I’m financially in trouble — the debt of the restaurant alone is overwhelming. My personal debt — wife, kids mortgage — that’s a lot of debt,” he told Ramsay on the show. “I owe my purveyors about $80,000 right now in cold, hard cash… I can’t see us going on another year.”

Ramsay renovated the restaurant and helped give the staffers pointers on how to run their business better and it steadily grew more successful.

“The place is really doing well — the parking lot is packed on weekends,” a woman who works at a neighboring tanning salon told the New York Post.

Another employee at the salon added: “[Cerniglia] said Ramsay was intense but that he turned out to be a nice guy, that in the end, he helped him out.”

Cerniglia’s family posted a message on his Facebook page “to thank all of the friends who have sent their condolences,” and also asked for donations to support his widow and their three sons, Evan, Michael and Nicholas.

What a sad event for his family!

CNN anchor Don Lemon sexually abused as a child

      Monday, September 27th, 2010

CNN anchor Don Lemon admitted on live TV that he was sexually abused as a child.  He was interviewing three members of Bishop Eddie Long’s congregation over the weekend, when he made the statement.

“I have never admitted this on TV,” he said Saturday. “I’m a victim of a pedophile when I was a kid. Someone who was much older than me.”

“I have never admitted that on television. I didn’t tell my mom that until I was 30 years old,” he added later.

While an expert explained how religious figures use particular language to get minors to engage in sexual activity, Lemon added, “Those are the things that they do,” he said. “The language, ‘This doesn’t make you gay, if you do this.’ ”

“I had no idea I’d say that on national TV. It just came out,” Lemon said in a Tweet Saturday evening. “Sadly, it’s the truth for so many young men.”

Lindsay Lohan almost free for now!

      Saturday, September 25th, 2010

Lindsay Lohan was freed on bail late Friday night well short of the month long stay that she should have served after her failed drug test.

Lohan was released at about 11:40 p.m. after posting $300,000 bail, overturning ruling of the Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden Fox who had ordered Lohan be held without bail.

After her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley, filed a late-afternoon appeal seeking bail Judge Patricia Schnegg, who is an assistant supervising judge of LA’s criminal courts, issued a ruling shortly before 6 p.m., saying that since the starlet had been convicted of misdemeanors, she was entitled to bail. The actress is not entirely free. She will be required to wear an ankle alcohol monitor and stay away from establishments that primarily sell alcohol.

Lohan must not take or posses any controlled substances or hang out with or around known drug users. Nor can she patronize nightclubs or places where alcohol is the “chief item of sale.”

She also must submit to search by law enforcement officials at ANY TIME.

Her court case on Oct. 22, will decide what her punishment will be for failing a drug test roughly two weeks after he released her early from rehab.

Whatever way it goes if Lohan does not serve some prison time and a sensible amount of time in rehab then she is probably the one who will benefit least by the decision in the long run!

Accountability!!  Isn’t that what all this is about?

      See what makes Lindsay tick!

Six More Men Claim Intimacies With John Travolta

      Saturday, September 25th, 2010

According to the Enquirer, six more men have come forward all of whom claim they were “intimate” with John Travolta.

Travolta has yet to respond to the allegations, but then why should he.

Do we really care if John Travolta is gay??

I don’t know the man personally but he seems like a great guy from what you hear about him and he has a nice family that has been through a lot of tragedy of late.

After all these years together and with all the reports about his sexuality I am sure that if it were true then Kelly Preston would be aware.

RedOne Says GaGa’s New Album Is “Too Precious To Talk About!”

      Saturday, September 25th, 2010

Red One who frequently collaborates with Lady Gaga says he is literally is too impressed to describe her new album properly!

      He says:

“I think it’s more of her freedom album. It’s like freedom this album … it’s her album! To be honest with you, I think that this album that she’s making is too precious to talk about. When it comes out you’ll hear and you’ll make your choice. I think you’re gonna love it. But I think it’s too precious for me to talk about it. It’s crazy. I said with everything I do I want to shock people. Honestly, it’s like whatever I do, I always want to shock people sonically, lyrically with the writer, anything that’s gonna get the reaction. And so when it comes to her album, I mean honestly, I really think it’s too precious, it’s too good to talk about. I don’t want to talk about it at all. I just want to save it. I’ll let her talk about it. It’s her. It’s her presenting Gaga. I’m the producer, but she’s the artist. Whatever happens later is going to happen. I can’t say I’m doing this or I’m doing that. It’s a surprise. I want to leave it like that.”

What can one add to that??
