Nicole John: Daughter of U.S. Diplomat falls to her death after a night of partying.

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

She may well have looked like an angel but the real Nicole John was a wild child who took limos to clubs and gallivanted on exotic beaches and who was obsessed with booze, pills and partying until she blacked out.

Her blog is filled with boasts about her benders and dark musings about loneliness.  The beautiful 5ft 8 almond eyed daughter of a U.S. diplomat spared little detail about the turbulent last three months of her life.

The one constant, her blog reveals, was liquor.

“Whaaaaaat a f—-n’ EPIC weekend. Intoxication for about 40 hours straight” she wrote two weeks ago.

“Vodka/redbulls + long island ice teas + ambiens + xanax = om nom nom (delicious),” she wrote in May.

In the end it was her love of alcohol led to her early and tragic demise after a night of partying when she fell from the ledge of a midtown apartment.

Her blog reads like that of a typical angst-ridden teenage girl (she slept with a pink elephant doll named Crinkly) where she frets about growing apart from a close friend and describes as her loves: art, reading, shopping and “really high heels.”  She talks about her fondness for fashion, photography and drawing and films.

But it’s also frighteningly dark, with sections devoted to a depression that at times consumed her.

“If I had the choice right now, I wouldn’t take the next breath,” John wrote in May. “The people I care about most find it so easy to leave me . . . I’m hurt so deep that I no longer see the purpose.”

This summer, she vacationed at Koh Samui a famous Thai hotspot, and partied at swanky Manhattan clubs as she flitted between the two countries.

“So I was down in the slumps, in the pits. But now I popped two Xanax’s so I’m goooooood to go,” she wrote three months ago. “Three cheers for medication!”

Later in the month, she describes popping two Xanaxes and going for sushi with pals.

“For future reference: xanax and vodka do not mix,” she wrote.

John’s blog shows her to be a deep thinker and talented writer. She quotes poet Sylvia Plath and philosopher Thomas Hobbes.

“I guess Thomas Hobbes is right, people are naturally selfish,” John wrote in May. “I’m grasping for a helping hand but they’ve all withdrawn.”

In one section, she recalls a particularly wild weekend spent in Washington in July.

“Friday night went to a house party and played beer pong, etc., got shwasted/cross-faded . . .

“Saturdayyy went clubbing which was awesome getting VIP treatment, up until the part where I’m trying to hail a cab at 3 am, really really drunk, and these three ghetto black people passing snatch my new iPhone 4.”

She describes spending the next two hours with cops trying to “figure out where the house was.”

“Aside from getting robbed, it was a goooood weekend,” John wrote. “Eventful, to say the least.”

She couldn’t wait for her new life in New York.

She wrote, “Oh New York City, how I’ve dreamt of you since I was little. One more month and you’re all mine.”

One photo depicted a beautiful young woman flying on a swing over the cityscape, and she wrote underneath it: “I want to do this.”

John referenced a Kurt Vonnegut quote.

“I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over,” she posted on her blog. “Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can’t see from the center.”

Sadly it now reads like an epitaph!

Nicole is seen above photographed with her mother.

Alveda King, an embarrassment to MLK’s legacy

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

When Glenn Beck used Martin Luther King Jr.’s I Have A Dream speech the other day it raised a lot of eyebrows!  A lot has also been said about his decision to have Sarah Palin speak at this rally. Palin recently backed up Dr. Laura’s infamous N-word rant, said the talk show host “should not back down but re-load.”

But those things aside what is really sad is that King’s own niece is willingly providing these bigots with “back up ” to desecrate the memory of her uncle.  Alveda King, the same niece who likened gay marriage to genocide, plans on speaking at Beck’s rally this weekend as part of her continued and simple-minded crusade against a woman’s rights to choose.

“Abortion is the greatest violation of civil rights in our day,” King said.  It is sad to think that this woman actually believes, that the mission of Planned Parenthood (as opposed to ensuring that women have a choice to have or not to have a baby) is a secret plot to prevent the birth of black children.  According to them, “religious right billboard campaign claiming African American children are an ‘endangered species’ and Alveda King’s comparison of anti-abortion activists to ‘Freedom Riders’ sparked outrage in the African American community.”  She believes that her own crusade is so important that she doesn’t mind allying herself with someone like Beck.

But she doesn’t want to answer the tough questions about abortion—none of the anti-abortion folks do. What happens when those unwanted pregnancies are not terminated and turn into unwanted children? What happens when a young, teenaged girl is straddled with a child she is not financially or emotionally prepared to care for? What happens to the children then? Are the anti-abortion folks rushing to take these children into their homes? Is the anti-abortion crowd rushing to provide funding to help care for, and feed these children? No.

Their “moral” imperatives are satisfied simply by trying to force a woman to give birth to a child. Their interest in the children are limited to their gestation and they could care less once they are born into a world by parents who either do not want them, or are not prepared/able to support them.

Abortion is a difficult decision for every woman who finds herself in that situation. But what right does Alveda King have to attempt to make that decision for all women?

“The rally will be a celebration of who we are as a nation and a chance to stop for a moment, reflect, reorganize, and re-energize. It’s a chance to think about character; both our character as a nation and our character as individuals,” King says.

A few months ago, she was booted from the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta for holding an impromptu pro-life rally without the proper permits.  Her decision to speak at Beck’s rally might also be a little vindictive payback in direct response to King’s own son who wrote to The Washington Post, about how shameful Beck’s rally is to his father’s memory.

Discrimination is discrimination, it’s as simple as that. Crazy is crazy, it doesn’t matter what your last name is. And Glenn Beck is no more than a modern day David Duke.

If MLK were alive he would no doubt disown her!

Fantasia Barrino Is Back on Track!

Friday, August 27th, 2010

It’s good to see American Idol champ Fantasia Barrino back in action.  Barrino was all smiles this morning when she performed on Good Morning America.

Glad to see her looking well but really don’t get the basin hairstyle or the long sideburns (what are they about?).

Lady Gaga Searched At Airport!

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Lady Gaga made her way to Vancouver International Airport on Thursday afternoon to catch a departing flight.  Seems like wearing outer garments didn’t fair very well for the Lady and provoked a full search.  Next time I would forget the stud covered shoes, spiked gloves, and studded corset.

Once again Gaga successfully managed to grab as much attention as possible from an every day event!

‘Last Exorcism’ pales to original

Friday, August 27th, 2010

The story is built around Marcus, a cynical man of God and former evangelist who doesn’t believe in demons or possession or anything else he preaches for that matter.  However, he is happy to oblige the believers who pay him a load of cash to rid their kin folks from visits from Satan an act that leaves the members of Marcus’ Baton Rouge congregation in adoration of him.
He hires a documentary crew to follow him to a farm in rural Louisiana where a father (Louis Herthum) is convinced his daughter Nell (Ashley Bell) has been possessed.  From the outset it is clear that Marcus is mistaken about demonic possession’s being a myth.  It takes a while as director Daniel Stamm takes a slow-burn approach and tension mounts steadily while plausible explanations for Nell’s strange behavior pile up (among them: the possibility she’s been the victim of sexual abuse).  Eventually, though, Marcus’ homemade special-effects gear, which is designed to convince his customers he’s done his job, can’t explain away the girl’s increasingly erratic and violent outbursts.

“The Last Exorcism” is initially intriguing, because the performances are convincing enough to make you buy into the this-is-really-happening documentary style movie.  There are creepy little touches throughout, such as the presence of Nell’s younger brother Caleb (Caleb Landry Jones), sweet-faced, smiling and not nearly so nice as he appears.

Like other films in the genre, “The Last Exorcism” uses the documentary gimmick to build a sense of dread, often relying on what you don’t see as much as what the camera captures.  But the more hellish the story gets, the sillier and less involving the movie becomes.  The result is that when Stamm finally goes for broke and tries to scare you, the ending is so anti-climactic and thoroughly telegraphed that the film ultimately feels like a burn.

For those of you old enough to have seen the original or movie buffs like me “The Last Exorcism” just doesn’t live up to the original.

Let me know what you think!

Shot in the mock-documentary style of “The Blair Witch Project” and “Paranormal Activity,” “The Last Exorcism” uses a lot of shaky-cam cinematography to give it a sense of realism.

Montana Fishburne: Did She Pose for Playboy?

Friday, August 27th, 2010

It would appear that Montana Fishburne has posed for Playboy.

The Montana Fishburne Playboy rumors were confirmed by TMZ, which reported that Fishburne had been involved in a test photo shoot for the magazine.

This seems pretty tame stuff for a girl who is willing to expose all on a seedy sex tape but it does reaffirm the lengths that she is willing to go to in a bid to “Get Famous” on the back of her father’s name!

As her photos have not been published to date we can assume that they have not met the standards that Playboy was looking for at the time, but you can bet that in the light of recent events they are strongly considering running them now, if they haven’t already been published. Now that Fishburne has become famous in the same way that Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton and the likes did the magazine would be able to make money from just about any shot of her.

Next we will see her on some reality program or she will be writing a book telling us why she did all of these things and cause more embarrassment  for her father Laurence who according to sources has expressed his disdain at his daughters chosen path.

Hope she finds that her 15 minutes of fame were worth it!
